Meeting Tonight

Just a reminder Lions.....we have a mandatory meeting for all members of the NJ Lions. Meeting starts at 7pm...please don't be late. Please bring your practice jerseys and playbooks (no matter what condition they are in). Failure to do so will result not being given a full refund on your fines monies. We have alot to cover tonight so get there on time. We close the book on 2009 tonight and start the building steps towards the 2010 season. Any questions, please give myself (preferably) or the owners a call. Thanks and see you tonight.

Championship Game

As you all may know, the NJ Buccs beat the VA Kings 52-30 last night. Myself as well as the owners and some coaches and players went to the game. We all had the same thoughts in our heads.....no way we should have lost to the Kings and we could have beaten the Buccs. It's all shoulda, coulda, woulda at this point. The Metro Bowl starts this weekend and it's loaded with some of the heavy hitters in this area and we could have had redemption there. But that also won't be the case. With that said....time to look in the mirror as a player, coach, and owner and say to ourselves what are we willing to sacrifice, how hard are we willing to work in the offseason, what will be our committment level so that in 2010 we can be RAFL champions!!! If you are not in this to win championships, I can recommend some great flag leagues for your enjoyment. But if you wear orange and black next season, that is our only goal!!! Winning records, division championships, and playoffs are nice achievements, but it's expected. If your goal is not to be on a field in November spraying champagne, then this isn't the place to be.

I hope all of you come back and finish what YOU have started. But if not, nothing but the best of wishes to you and yours. This franchise will move on towards our primary goal!!! And as I said before, don't cheat yourself.....get in the gym, lift harder than ever, run longer than ever, be in the best shape you have ever been in. God help this league if we have 53 players with only one goal in mind and the intestinal fortitude to not be denied by anyone or any team.

Some people say that we treat this like a job and we have taken the fun out of it. Don't know about you, but winning is fun to me, losing is not. When dedicate as much time and resources as this front office and coaching staff does, you do take it personal. So be it!!!! I have been involved in semipro for going on 12 years and never won the big prize. Short of selling my children, I am willing to do whatever it takes to finally get that ring. After watching that game yesterday and knowing we had the players to beat the Buccs, I am even more motivated to never let us come up short again. And I know Paul, Jeff, and all the coaches feel the exact same way!!!!!

So starting at tomorrow's meeting and going forward, let's get our minds right and go get what is ours. No one outworks us, no one outprepares us, no one out-hearts us, no one will out-anything us.

There will be some new faces on this team next season. The best guys will make this team, I promise you that. No one guy is guaranteed anything. There will be some openings at some positions....the question is are you willing to push yourself to take it!! If I know you guys like I think I do....you will do whatever it takes.

See you Lions tomorrow 7pm sharp!!!!! It starts tomorrow....set the tone for 2010

Fellas i know the season is over, but the 2010 season is right around the corner! I want to start have prac. for the lb's on sun. around 12 p.m. bag work staying in shape , read and react drills and some one on one coaching with coach paul and coach gladney! i'm sure they will cum if enuff of u guys get involved! get back to me if this is sumthing u guys want to do ! remember 1 point kept us from our dreams this year! hit me back on here with a yes or a no !

I figured that this end to our season has eaten me up alive. The only way to deal with it is to go to the game and deal with it. If anyone is interested in grabbing some lunch and going to the game give me a call today or tommorow. I would like to meet up in Staten Island around 1 to 130. I think we should show the league that we are here and strong and have not run away. I know i will be in black and orange. Hopefully you too. So let me know what's up guys?

LIONS after talking to the league ceo we arent gonna be playing in the championship game. The kings will be there as they deserve it , they beat us fair and square. congrats on a great season, we will see u guys on tues. for the team meeting. Keep your heads up high cause in mine and pauls book u are all winners! I still feel we are the better team overall, they were just the better team that night! Lets get ready for the 2010 season , workout hard and remember !1 point short of our dreams everytime u feel u can't get that last rep or that last wind sprint! see u guys tues. don't forget your playboos and jerseys!

There is a mandatory team meeting for all players and coaches of the NJ Lions next Tuesday, November 10th at 7pm at the fieldhouse. Voting for team awards, awards dinner details, and other matters will be handled. All players are required to bring their playbooks and practice jerseys (regardless of their conditions) to the meeting to be handed in. Failure to do so will result in monetary fines. It is important that everyone attend, no excuses.

Also, this meeting is for CURRENT NJ Lions players. No one else will be allowed in. Pass the word if you see this message and I will also personally call you all to confirm.

I KNOW THAT YOU PLAYED YOUR HEARTS OUT AND DID EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO KEEP THIS DREAM ALIVE ,I DONT WANT THIS TO BE ABOUT ME AND MY FEELINGS BUT I TRULY FEEL THAT I SOMEHOW LET ALL OF YOU DOWN BY NOT BEING THERE FOR THIS VERY IMPORTANT MISSION.....

   TO ALL MY COACH,S AND MY SONS YOU GUYS HAVE MADE HISTORY IN THIS GAME WE CALL SEMI PRO FOOTBALL ,TAKE TIME STEP BACK AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE MASTERPIECE YOU ALL HAVE FORMED AND MOLDED

Open Letter to the entire Lions Family

Gentlemen, what can I say that does not sound like coach speak or clich. We played a very good team in the Kings, no denying that. We fought tooth and nail with them for four quarters but unfortunately in a long season it sometimes comes down to an inch here, an inch there....one play here, one play there. We won all year as a team and we lost as a team. That's the important thing!!!

My suggestion is to take some time off and let the emotions of this loss settle down. But no later than Thanksgiving, start preparing for the 2010 season. Hit the weights, start running, read books and articles about your position....work on being a better overall player. I know the coaches will be studying and going to clinics to hone our craft even more.

I can't make any guarantees, but I will guarantee you this. We will be building the best team possible for next season. No one is guaranteed anything. There are no more captains, no more starters, no more guaranteed roster spots. Everyone is going to earn their way. If your single solitary goal for the 2010 season is not to win the RAFL championship, you will not be welcomed here. Everyone needs to be dedicated to that one goal....not stats, not playing time, nothing else. I know I will be focused this off-season and "22-21" will be in head all winter long, eating away at me.

On a personal note, I want to thank my ex-teammates for treating like a coach and not an ex-teammate this season. You guys made my transition a smooth one. For the rookies, thank you for being a great bunch of guys and working as hard you did (vets this goes for you too). To my Dline, thank you guys for being warriors all year for me and this team. You guys were an honor to coach and no matter how much I asked of you, you guys refused to not keep working. Let's keep it going in 2010.....D.....Line.....All....Day!!!!! To the coaches, I thank them because I learned so much from everyone one of you men. There is NOT a harder working group of coaches in semi-pro, period!!!

To the Castillos....you guys are like brothers to me. Thank you for giving so much trust and responsibilty when it came to this team. I know it takes alot for you guys to trust people and I hope I did exactly what you guys needed of me. I will continue working hard for you guys and this team going into 2010.

Last but not least, our fans!!!! You guys are amazing!!!! Thank you for the live and support you showed us this season. I didn't think you guys could be any better than you were in 2008, but I was wrong. Thank you for being diehards in the rain, cold, heat....no matter what. Words can't thank you all enough....but I know what will......cheering for us as we win the championship in 2010.

PS-to the RAFL.......WE ARE COMING IN 2010!!!!!! YOU BETTER BE READY!!!!

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING A FEW PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM FOR,ABOUT 15 YEARS,POP WARNER ALL THE WAY UP.GREAT JOB.TO ALL THE TEAM MATES,GREAT JOB ALSO,IT WAS A PLEASURE TO GO TO THE GAMES AND TRY TO BE A PART AF THE WIN..NOT ONE PERSON HAS TAKEN CREDIT FOR THE WINS,SO NOBODY SHOULD TAKE THE LOSS.IT WAS A GREAT GAME, ONE PLAY HERE,ONE PLAY THERE,WE WIN.DIDNT HAPPEN...BE PROUD LIONS,YOU DID WELL.GOODSPEED TO ALL,GET HEALTHY,AND ENJOY...........GO LIONS...........
